The town of North Delta was originally founded as Annieville in the Lower Mainland of BC. This mostly middle class community is part of the Corporation of Delta, that comprises 3 communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta. There are various recreational areas and parks in North Delta. The Burns Bog is the biggest raised peat urban bog in all of North America and it runs alongside the community. There is plenty of green space in the North Delta area. Watershed Park is home to lots of artesian aquifers and provides numerous walking and biking trails. Based on the Census of the year 2006, North Delta has a population of roughly 51,600 people.
On the east side, North Delta borders the town of Surrey by 120th Street or Scott Road and by the Fraser River and 96th Avenue on the north side. Across the river to the west is Annacis Island and Richmond. These regions are accessible through the Alex Fraser Bridge. The Burns Bog lies to the west and is bordered by Highway 91. Towards the south, Clark Drive in Panorama Ridge marks the southern community boundary.
There are 3 recreational complexes within North Delta. The Sungod Recreation Centre has been recently renovated and comprises both a swimming pool and an indoor ice rink, the North Delta Recreational Complex, comprising 6 curling sheets, an ice rink and an outdoor pool is the oldest sports complex in the area and the Great Pacific Forum that is an ice arena situated at the base of the Alex Fraser Bridge. There is a small camp for kids with a skateboard park and a big softball park situated near the North Delta Recreational Centre.
The town of North Delta is home to the Province's only Krispy Kreme doughnut shop and is the only shop west of Mississauga. Also, the area has only one branch of Tim Hortons. The major shopping malls within the area are Kennedy Heights, Scott 72 Centre, and Delta Shoppers Mall.
