Oak Street is one of the main north-south roads within Vancouver, B.C. The street runs from a 3-way intersection just south of False Creek with 6th Avenue in the north, to the Oak Street Bridge in the south, which leads towards Richmond. The route is a part of Hwy 99 from its crossroads with 70th Avenue towards the south. From the Oak Street Bridge to the border, this part is designated as Hwy 99 due to its expressway status in that particular place.
Oak Street consists of 6 lanes throughout its length, apart from the first 6 km south from its northern end. Here, it is 4 lanes wide. It runs through a really busy commercial region from north to south and next passes by Vancouver General Hospital. Oak Street also runs through several vast Vancouver neighborhoods like Shaughnessy, Oakridge and afterward and before heading to Richmond, to Marpole.
