The city of Langford is located on Vancouver Island's southern end. It is a thriving community that is nestled in the foothills of Mount Finlayson. Langford is amongst the West Shore municipalities. It borders the District Metchosin, the District of Highlands, Colwood City, the Town of View Royal and the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area in the Capital Regional District. The city of Langford proudly considers itself the commercial center of the West Shore. The city features various amenities sought after by neighboring people.

Langford has become the hub of the West Shore's business community by attracting big wholesale and retail stores, numerous small businesses and different light industrial companies. They have an ever-growing consumer market due to the city's streamlined re-zoning process.

Langford's residents between the year 2001 and the year 2006 statistics has continued to flourish with a growth rate of 19.2%, which is due largely to in-migration from other communities on the island. Langford is the fastest growing municipality within the CRD, which is the Capital Regional District.

According to Environment Canada, Langford City enjoys wet and frost-free winters, mild and dry summers because the city is situated on Vancouver Island's southern end. Langford is situated within the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains. Langford receives approximately 620 mm of rain every year, that is considerably lower compared to the 1070 mm average of Vancouver. Based on statistics, the city enjoys an annual average of 2185 hours of sunlight. The less rain clouds compared to the mainland and the clear and sunny skies mean that the gorgeous views of West Shore and Victoria, Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olympic Mountains are visible from Langford all through the year.

Langford city has 3 lakes in its 41.46 square km. The lakes are Florence Lake, Glen lake and Langford Lake. Another popular location is Coldstream Provincial Park. Mill Hill, Thetis Lake regional Parks and Mount Wells are other sites full of scenery and relaxation. The city plays host to both large and small festivals consisting of the Luxton Pro Rodeo and the Summer Festival. Various urban parks and fairgrounds dot the city landscape and play host to many activities.
