Surrey encompasses land occupied by several Halqemeylem-speaking aboriginal groups. Settlers arrived first in Cloverdale and various parts of South Surrey first, and nearly all of their activities were fishing, harvesting oysters, farming, or setting up small stores.

Surrey Museum is the place where tourists could be seated in a 42-seat orientation theatre and state-of-the-art exhibit that tells Surrey's stories. There is even a weaving studio, a textile library, and other exhibitions themes. Surrey Arts Centre is home to live theatre performances and an art gallery. Several plays and concerts are performed at the Art Centre. Historical Stewart Farm features a restored farmhouse, root cellars, pole bars on the shores of the Nicomekl River and heirloom gardens. There are also year round tours by volunteers and employees dressed in Victorian-style clothing. Different eclectic activities comprise: woodstove cooking, parlour games and heritage crafts. Cloverdale is a historic centre recognized for its small town charm. Antique lovers and collectors would definitely find this a good site to visit to.

Serpentine Fen is a spectacular land within Surrey where roughly 3,000 species of wildlife are seen during the year. Crescent Beach is located within the southeast corner of Surrey, and it is considered among the sunniest beaches in the Greater Vancouver Region. Among the more popular activities it provides are: swimming, kayaking, crabbing, fishing, and boating. There are also shops nearby and restaurants together with ocean views. Bear Creek Park is one of the city's more popular parks. It is perfect for outdoor activities and nature walks. Amongst the park's facilities include: a running track, sports fields, shelters, a swimming pool and picnic areas.
